Welcome to Race For Pucks, learn about the creator!

Hiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG this is so exciting. My first article for Race For Pucks. This is honestly so surreal to finally have this out and into the world. Not only that but I’m a creator for something like a whole owner and CEO.. HELLO?!?!?!?! I’m not going to lie, this is like 3 months of planning so there is still so much I have to learn and do but I couldn't wait any longer to get started. The idea has been here for a big while now so that’s what counts. Okay but WELCOME!! I’m so excited you’re here. I can’t wait for you to see what RFP has in store for y’all. This is my formal introduction to you guys. Here y’all will get to know me and RFP, why I made her, my favorite teams, my introduction to sports, and all that fun jazz.

Okay.. Hi! I’m Jade, the creator of Race for Pucks. I’m 19 years old and a current freshman in college majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Communication Studies. My dream career is to be a sports journalist and broadcaster. I have loved sports from a very young age. I remember my family and I would watch tons of soccer growing up and there’s kind of where it all started. Now I do have to say, I love watching sports but I cannot for the life of me play them (unfortunately). I remember my mom put me in a kids soccer league one time and I went for a whole week before I quit. In middle school, I joined a field hockey and volleyball team just for fun and I was definitely not good but I do remember slashing a player from my opposing team in field hockey to get the small rubber ball back (don’t worry it wasn’t that hard and he didn’t care). When I entered high school, I definitely went and watched games but never joined anything other than becoming a manager for the girls soccer team which was really fun. So clearly my sports career was very short-lived and honestly I’m okay with it, I prefer to just watch. Now from childhood to about my sophomore year of high school, soccer was all I watched and cared for. Not until the beginning of 2023 when I got into F1 and very quickly after I got into hockey. I will be 100% honest with you guys, I get into sports because of guys.. BUT I swear I’m not like a fangirl that thinks they’ll fall in love with me (no shame though trust.. I used to be a k-pop fan). For F1 I remember I saw probably a video I think of Charles Leclerc and I was like “Yup, I’m in” and there began me waking up at 6am every Sunday to catch every race. Like I said, very quickly after I got into hockey. I believe I saw a video or a picture of Jack Hughes and I thought “I’m sat”. Instantly becoming a Devils fan and was being there in their 2023 prime when we went to the playoffs (those were fun times as a fan). As for the NFL, obviously I think the NFL is probably one of if not the most iconic and most watched league out there so I knew of it from a young age. My family wasn’t very big on football and still isn’t, it’s something we put on when there's absolutely nothing else to watch. When I did watch it, I understood absolutely nothing other than the concept of a touchdown. To me hockey and F1 were very easy to understand and follow, at least the basic concepts of them, but understanding football was rather hard and the only basic concept of it is to get the ball and score a touchdown. Through some game watching and thanks to my friend’s brother, I learned a whole lot about football and can now say I have been promoted from casual watcher to actual fan. Cue the cheers, applause, standing ovation. Ugh guys stop it, thank you thank you.

That’s pretty much my sports journey. It's just been a part of my life so much and I love to watch them and I love to write so why not combine the two. Boom! Sports journalist. I am genuinely so excited to get this blog/magazine up and running. Oh! I forgot to mention my favorite teams (I did post about it on Instagram but why not share them on here too). For hockey, of course it's the New Jersey Devils. My Ferrari love lies low as I now cheer for McLaren but I feel like I root for all the teams just I root for McLaren a little more. In regards to soccer, there is the MLS and FIFA, for MLS I do cheer for Intern Miami CF and for FIFA I root for Argentina, and both for one reason, Lionel Messi. He is my icon, my inspiration, he is who made me fall in love with soccer and sports. Literally my dream is to interview him before he retires. Anyways, we’ll get into more of that later on. Lastly for the NFL, I cheer for the Houston Texans but also kind of for the Buffalo Bills (I love Josh Allen and Hailee Steinfield) and the 49ers (because why not).

Okayy that was my first article, literally so surreal that I’m actually doing this. I hope to see you guys here again soon and I hope you have a lovely morning/day/evening/night wherever you are.

Till next time,

Jade (Race For Pucks)
